AMERICA LATINA, 1963–2013
From October, 2013 to March, 2014, the Fondation Cartier pour l’art contemporain will present an exhibition organized in collaboration with the Museo Amparo in Puebla, Mexico. This exhibition will offer a unique perspective on Latin American photography from 1960 to today, by focusing on the relationship between text and image.
It will reveal the great diversity of photographic practices in the region by presenting the work of documentary photographers, as well as that of contemporary artists or even amateurs who appropriate the medium in different ways.
Bringing together almost 70 artists from ten countries, this exhibition will provide the visitor with the opportunity to explore the recent history of Latin America and to discover the major artists who have contributed to its rich visual culture.
