Raised in East Harlem, Enrique Torres, best known as Part One, entered the emerging aerosol art scene in the early 1970s in New York City. He later joined the prestigious group, TDS (The Death Squad), whose members included some of the greatest names in graffiti, such as Noc 167, Chain 3, Case 2, and Daze. Having become a famous writer by the early 1980s, Part One began participating in the downtown art scene. His first contact with the art world allowed him to exhibit his work in places like Gallozzi-Laplaca Gallery, or in emblematic clubs like The Limelight and The Tunnel. Today, Part One defines himself as an aerosol expressionist, and works in a wide range of mediums and formats. His specialty is a wide and unique use of colors and letter structures.
