In each of his artistic interventions, Olivier Kosta-Théfaine manipulates the codes and language of the city and its suburbs. His work recontextualizes these signs and symbols by isolating and transforming them, thus changing the way we look at the urban environment. Olivier Kosta-Théfaine employs irony and makes light of current fashions and trends, including elements such as athletic socks, scarves for soccer fans or studded leather within his work. Using a song, a slogan, an image or a pattern as a point of departure, the artist uses preexisting languages and elements from popular culture to construct his work.
