The exhibition 7 x 3, organised in November 2004 at the Fondation Cartier, presented seven short movies dedicated to the great cities Rio de Janeiro, Shanghai, Tokyo, Berlin, Moscow, Addis Ababa and Cairo. The 7 x3 catalog revealed to the public the series of color photographs that the artist had taken during his brief stay in these cities.
Seen with the eye of the artist, this hundred photographs-showing places he had photographed before, for the most poart- presents his pronounced fondness for snapping the moment.
These movies and photographs follow a commission from the Fondation Cartier, which Raymond Depardon completed in 2007 with five other cities, on the occasion of his exhibition at the Museum für Fotografie in Berlin.
